The notorious Fulton County Jail in Atlanta lost another prisoner when a guard discovered him or her unconscious on Wednesday, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.

Ten prisoners have died at the facility this year as a result of the incident.

On August 31, Shawndre Delmore, 24, was discovered unconscious in his cell and was given “lifesaving measures” by jail employees before being sent to Grady Memorial Hospital, according to officials. At the hospital, he passed away on Sunday.

According to the sheriff’s office, Delmore was detained by the Atlanta Police Department in April for second-degree burglary and purposeful obstruction of a law enforcement official. According to officials, he was being detained on a $2,500 bond for the burglary accusation.

Former President Donald Trump and 18 other defendants turned themselves in to the Fulton County Jail last month after being accused in a broad racketeering indictment for alleged attempts to rig the Georgia 2020 presidential election.

In response to numerous allegations of inmate abuse and neglect, including the death of LaShawn Thompson on September 13, 2022, whose family asserted that he was “eaten alive by insects and bed bugs” in the jail, the U.S. Department of Justice announced in July that it had opened a civil investigation into the Fulton County, Georgia, jail system.

According to an independent autopsy report that ABC News was able to get, Thompson’s death was caused by “dehydration, malnutrition, severe body insect infestation,” “untreated decompensated schizophrenia,” and other issues.

Other others have also passed away in the jail this year.

During the jail’s dinner rounds on August 26, Samuel Lawrence, 34, was discovered unconscious in his cell, according to the officials. Officials reported that after being transferred to Grady Memorial Hospital, he was declared dead.

According to a prior press statement from the sheriff’s office, an inmate died after being stabbed on August 31 in the jail.

Dayvion Blake, 23, passed away on Thursday after being stabbed along with three other prisoners, according to the sheriff’s office. According to officials, they were all transferred to Grady Memorial Hospital.

After waiting nearly four years for his trial to begin, Christopher Smith, 34, passed away inside the jail last month. According to Atlanta ABC affiliate WSB, a second prisoner in a mental health unit was discovered dead in October with his wrists and ankles bound.

Others who couldn’t afford bail have passed away while they were detained.

Alexander Hawkins, 66, who was awaiting trial, was discovered unconscious in a medical unit cell last month and later died. He was being detained on a $5,000 bond due to an accusation of shoplifting.
