Thread for the Juventus vs. Atalanta matchup

Juventus vs. Atalanta

The excursions to Bergamo have only been harder and harder over the past five or six years as Atalanta has gotten better and better.

Before Juventus’ record-setting Serie A Scudetto run, the Bianconeri once dominated the head-to-head contests while playing Atalanta in Bergamo. However, that hasn’t been the case for the past five years.

In terms of outcomes, they haven’t exactly been a disaster. However, it isn’t as dominant as it was before Gian Piero Gasperini transformed Atalanta into a team that consistently performs above expectations and contends for a Champions League spot.

What can fans expect when they visit Gewiss Stadium this year?

Oh, the joy that should ensue when Juventus and Atalanta square off in a Serie A matchup on Sunday at noon. Juve is third entering. Atalanta starts the game in sixth place and is only five points out of the top four. Similar to the previous two weeks, a victory for Juventus would give them the opportunity to pass Lazio, who fell to AC Milan on Saturday, and move into second position. That is the day’s objective.

But can they actually pull it off?

After bouncing back from some setbacks earlier in the year, Atlanta enters this afternoon’s game playing some of their finest basketball of the season. Since they’ve gotten back on track, they’re increasing the pressure on the teams ahead of them in the battle for the top four, turning it into a five-team contest for the three slots left to qualify for the Champions League.

Not sharing is bull, and sharing is caring. It’s still true even though it doesn’t rhyme. I offer Pele and Maradona as evidence. They fought for years because they were unable to share GOAT status. Actually, sharing is sort of BS now that I think about it. Never is it even. Fifa had a clear preference (Pele) when it attempted to make the legends share the Player of the Century award. Sharing in this instance, then, resulted in even more beef… Sharing isn’t caring, so call the rhyming dictionary, you heard it here first. I have a retractation.

For Juventus to clinch a spot in the top four and put more space between themselves and the two Milan clubs in fourth and fifth, a victory in Bergamo would be very essential. With a semifinal of the Europa League looming just four days away, would Max Allegri’s team be able to pull it off? it will be a significant test of their mettle.
