A 14-minute documentary about Aljamain Sterling was made for the UFC by producers Corey Frost and Rory Karpf. From both Sterling’s and his family’s perspectives, it describes Sterling’s early years and upbringing. The memories of the bantamweight champion’s mother, younger brother, and sister, as well as the horrific facts they described, are also included.

The heartbreaking portrayal of Sterling’s terrible connection with his father in the documentary ‘Not Broken’ is heartbreaking. Not just Sterling, but also his mother and his siblings were the targets of the abuse. As a result of his father, “Funk Master” described how he felt inadequate and lost as a child.

Sterling admitted, “I don’t have many good recollections of my dad. “He made us feel little, helpless, foolish, and useless.”
Sterling, who grew up in Uniondale, New York, shared a home with his seven full siblings and six half siblings. In the end, wrestling gave him the self-assurance and fortitude to triumph over his surroundings, in stark contrast to his father.

Aljamain Sterling’s trying upbringing
Aljamain Sterling learned early on that he had a duty to look out for and support his mother, who had a lot on her plate considering how many people depended on her. Cleveland Sterling, Aljamain’s father, was absent for the majority of their childhood, which didn’t help. Ironically, if his father did appear, it added to the family’s strife and led to accusations of domestic abuse against his mother.

Troy and Kelvin Sterling: who are they?
The bantamweight champion’s younger brother Troy made the same decision to pursue fighting as a career. The 31-year-old mixed martial artist has a professional record of one win, two losses, and one draw. Troy Sterling’s final match as a professional took place on May 17, 2019, at CFFC 74, when he was defeated by Joe Tizzano.

Additionally, another one of Aljamain’s brothers, Kelvin Sterling, also turned to MMA as a vocation. He has a record of 2 losses and 0 wins. Aljamain Sterling’s relationship with his siblings also motivated him to take up wrestling in high school.

This was because he often witnessed violence in the neighborhood, and found his siblings to be the victims, often returning home injured. A resolve to protect resulted in arguably the best wrestler the bantamweight division has ever seen in the UFC.
