An Oregon mother working for DoorDash was slain after an 18-year-old street racer’s automobile collided with her car, killing both the adolescent driver and her twin sister, according to Portland police.
According to a statement from the police, the victims of the collision were Hannah Fetters and her twin sister Grace, both 18 years old, as well as Julie Skeen, 55.
The accident occurred on Thursday, July 20 at 9:34 p.m., according to the police, and a fourth person was also hurt, though their wounds are not thought to be life-threatening.
Police said that two vehicles — a Subaru Impreza being driven by a 17-year-old male driver and a BMW being driven by Hannah with her sister in the passenger seat — were racing down the street “at speeds above the posted limit.”
According to a statement from police, Skeen, a DoorDash driver, was operating a Lexus sedan with an adult male passenger and was “proceeding to turn from northbound Southeast 63rd Avenue to westbound Southeast Powell Boulevard when the BMW struck the driver’s side of the Lexus,” adding that “the force of the crash sent the BMW into the raised median and the vehicle knocked over multiple trees.”
One of our girlfriends was expecting a text from Sheen when she finished her DoorDash that night, according to Sheen’s friend Jodi King, who spoke to KATU News. On that particular day, they were holding a garage sale at Julie’s home. She didn’t receive the text and reasoned that it was already too late. Most likely, she simply went home and to bed. She arrived at her house for the garage sale early in the morning, but neither she nor her car were there.
King posted on Skeen’s GoFundMe page, “I lost my closest friend of 40+ years,” and added, “Jules would have given you the shirt off her back, even if she couldn’t afford to replace it. She was a devoted, hysterical, loving, and compassionate person.
It would “be a long ride for him to heal,” King told KATU News, identifying Sheen’s passenger as her husband Justin. He also lost the love of his life, who provided for him incredibly well.
According to the publication, King said, “It would break her heart to know that little kids were also lost in this.”
“The unimaginable loss of both Hannah and Grace is too much to bear,” reads the GoFundMe page for the Fetters twins. “Please help relieve some of that stress while the family grieves this incredible loss.”
